The Law Firm Thomás de Carranza Abogados has been involved in the first Equality Plan of the Ritz Hotel in Madrid, advising the company during the whole process, including the negotiation with the workers’ representatives.
The law firm has developed, for more than a year, the diagnosis and complete compensation audit of the Hotel, key elements for the drafting and signing of the Equality Plan. This document includes the measures aimed at achieving equal treatment and opportunities between women and men in the company, eliminating discrimination of any kind.
The signed Equality Plan will be in force for four years, at which time it must be reviewed, opening a new period of analysis and negotiation with the Works Committee. The legal counsel was headed by María Gomes Sousa, director of the labor department of Thomás de Carranza Abogados, for whom the equality plan of the Ritz Hotel has become “a reference for luxury hotels in Madrid”.
The regulation that includes the Equality Plans is included in the Organic Law 3/2007, of March 22nd. Subsequently, Royal Decree-Law 6/2019, advanced in its application, reducing, from 2022, to 50 the number of workers required for its implementation to be mandatory in the company.
Failure to comply with the regulations is considered a serious infringement and can be punished with fines of up to 225,000 euros if the requirement comes from a mandate from the Labor Inspectorate.
